monobank has introduced a new privacy feature that allows users to block incoming transfers from specific people.
The update was announced after some customers reported an unexpected problem. Because monobank allows senders to include a message with a bank transfer, some users found that people they had already blocked on social media or messaging apps were using transfer comments as another way to contact them.
Why the Feature Was Added
According to monobank co-founder Oleg Horokhovskyi, the development team noticed several customer posts describing this situation and decided to provide a simple solution.
Users can now prevent selected people from sending them future transfers through the app.
How It Works
Blocking a sender only takes a few moments.
Simply:
open the transfer;
view the transaction details;
choose the option to block that sender.
Once blocked, that person will no longer be able to send you money transfers.
More Than Just Blocking an Ex
Horokhovskyi jokingly introduced the feature as a way to "block your ex."
In reality, it can be used to stop transfers from anyone whose messages or repeated payments have become unwanted or annoying.
He also joked that users probably shouldn't overuse the feature, since there aren't many people willing to spend money just to send someone a message through a bank transfer.
Listening to User Feedback
monobank frequently introduces new features based on customer feedback. This update is another example of how small quality-of-life improvements can make everyday mobile banking more convenient while giving users greater control over their experience.
