The For You feed adapts to how you interact with videos. Watching, liking, sharing or skipping clips helps shape what appears in future recommendations. If you have something specific in mind, search for creators, sounds, hashtags, places, products or topics. Following accounts also gives you a separate feed for their posts.

You can browse some content without signing in. An account is needed for features such as following creators, saving favourites, posting videos and using personalised options.

Create and edit posts in the app

Record a clip or choose videos and photos from your device, then use TikTok’s editing tools to add music, text, filters, effects, captions, voice-over and transitions. The app also supports photo posts, Stories, Duet and Stitch. These tools suit quick edits as well as responses or collaborations built around other posts.

LIVE, messages and shopping

Eligible creators can host LIVE streams and interact with viewers in real time. Direct messages can be used to chat and share posts, subject to age and privacy settings. TikTok Shop is available only in supported regions, and shopping options may not appear for every account.

Screen time and account controls

Available controls include daily screen-time limits, break and sleep reminders, private-account settings, comment controls, and options for managing messages and the reuse of your content. Teen accounts have additional protections, while Family Pairing lets parents or guardians access selected safety settings. The App Store age rating is 12.

TikTok is free to download. The app contains advertising and optional purchases; digital gifts, subscriptions, shopping and some creator features may involve a cost.
