ANT+ Plugins Service for Android
ANT+ Plugins Service is an Android connectivity component that lets compatible apps communicate with ANT+ fitness devices. It is not a training app in itself: an ANT+-enabled app uses the service to receive data from supported sensors and equipment.
What you can connect
Depending on the devices and app you use, ANT+ connections can provide:
- Live heart-rate data from compatible straps and wearables
- Data from ANT+-enabled fitness equipment and bicycle trainers
- Cycling speed, distance and cadence measurements
- Power data from compatible cycling power meters
- Running speed and distance from footpods
Who may find it useful
The service is intended for Android users who track workouts with ANT+-compatible sensors or exercise equipment. For example, a cyclist can use a supported training app with a compatible speed sensor or power meter, while a runner can connect a footpod to an app that reads ANT+ data.
Compatibility depends on the phone, the ANT+ device and the app. Check that the products and app you plan to use support ANT+ before relying on this service; a device that uses another wireless connection may not work with it.
Pre-installed service and settings
ANT+ Plugins Service may already be included by your phone manufacturer, so you may not need to install it separately. The service description says it does not collect personal data and does not cause pop-up ads. If it is present but you do not need ANT+ connections, the manufacturer’s instructions may let you disable it instead of deleting it. The service may be enabled or downloaded again after a phone reset or update.
How to install from Google Play
If you need to install the service, tap Download on this page to open its Google Play listing. Check that the listing shows ANT+ Plugins Service by ANT+, then tap the install button in Google Play. Installation is free.
