Facebook Lite for Android: A Lightweight Social App

Facebook Lite is Meta Platforms, Inc.’s Android app for keeping up with friends and using core Facebook social features. Its smaller size can help save space on your phone, and it is designed to work in 2G conditions. It is free to install.

Who it may suit

Consider Facebook Lite if you want to share updates and photos, follow people and pages, and stay connected when storage space is limited or your connection is slow. The app is listed for people aged 13 and over.

What you can do

• Post status updates, share photos, and respond to friends’ posts with comments or reactions.
• Get notifications when friends like or comment on your posts, and follow people, brands, artists, or sports teams for updates in your News Feed.
• Organise photos into albums and choose privacy settings for individual photos, including a secret photo album.
• Find local events, RSVP, look up businesses and their details, or browse Facebook Marketplace to buy and sell locally.

Features and things to consider

Facebook Lite brings together many classic Facebook features in a smaller app, but its store description does not claim that every Facebook feature is included. It is an option for everyday social updates and browsing rather than a guarantee of access to the full feature set of the main Facebook app.
