Google Meet for Android

Google Meet is Google’s video calling and online meeting app for Android. It can be used for conversations with friends and family, remote lessons, consultations and team collaboration. Users can join through a shared link, start an instant meeting or schedule one with Google Calendar.

Video calls and online meetings

A new meeting link can be copied and sent by email, chat or another messaging app. Scheduled meetings can include a title, time and guest list and are automatically added to Google Calendar.

During a meeting, participants can use their camera and microphone, exchange chat messages and share the Android screen. Screen sharing is useful for presenting a document, demonstrating another app or showing photos and slides.

Calls are synchronised across supported devices, allowing a conversation to start on one device and continue on another.

Audio and video tools

Google Meet can automatically adjust lighting, reduce background noise and provide live captions. Availability depends on the device, account, subscription and supported language.

Backgrounds, filters, visual effects and reactions help users customise their appearance or respond without interrupting the speaker. Before joining, the preview screen can be used to check the camera and microphone.

Meeting controls and premium features

Hosts can manage access, admit participants and control selected meeting permissions. This is useful for lessons, business calls and conversations where the organiser needs to limit unexpected access.

Eligible Google Workspace plans add features such as meeting recording, enhanced noise cancellation, AI-powered note-taking and real-time speech translation. These tools are not included for every free account, and language support varies.

How to download and install Google Meet

To download Google Meet for Android, open its Google Play page and tap the install button. After launching the app, sign in with a Google Account and allow access to the camera and microphone.

A stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection is recommended for clear video and audio. Long calls can use a noticeable amount of data and battery power, especially when the camera, effects or screen sharing are active.
