Google Chrome for Android

Google Chrome is Google’s official web browser for Android phones and tablets. It can be used for web searches, online services, video streaming, shopping and everyday browsing. Google Search, Google Lens, Translate and Google Password Manager are integrated into the browser.

Chrome comes pre-installed on many Android devices. If it is already available on a phone or tablet, the user may only need to update or enable it.

Google Chrome features

The address bar accepts both website addresses and search queries. Voice Search makes it possible to search without typing, while Google Lens can recognise text, identify products and find information using an image or the device’s camera.

The built-in translation tool can translate selected text or an entire website. Tab groups help organise open pages and keep websites related to work, shopping, travel or other topics together.

After signing in to a Google Account, Chrome can synchronise:

  • bookmarks and open tabs;

  • browsing history;

  • saved passwords and passkeys;

  • addresses and Autofill information.

Synchronised information can be accessed through Chrome on supported phones, tablets and computers.

Security and privacy

Safe Browsing warns users about suspicious websites, possible phishing attempts and dangerous downloads. Enhanced Protection offers more proactive threat detection, while Safety Check can identify compromised passwords and browser settings that may require attention.

Google Password Manager can generate and store strong passwords, fill them in on supported websites and warn users when saved credentials may be at risk.

Incognito mode prevents visited pages from remaining in Chrome’s local history after all private tabs are closed. However, it does not make browsing completely anonymous to websites, internet providers, employers or network administrators.
